Beware Nations on Auto-pilot Mode

These days the airplanes and yacht are put on ‘auto-pilot’ mode, and you are already at the mercy of the God Almighty.

But what about the nations? The guys in governance are obliged under the Constitution to maintain ‘Law and Order’ with all the governance machinery at their disposal. But what happening here is, their ‘ machinations’ are in full play and display resulting in neither Law nor Order.

That’s when we see that the nations are in auto-pilot mode.

Should we keep our seatbacks upright, expectations low while our leaders are unreachable?

We citizens cling on to that straw called ‘ hope’ and endure.

If you peep into the nation's cockpit - parliament, congress or senate or whatever name that each nation has, you’ll find:

• A sea of empty seats.

• A 300-page bill getting passed in 5 minutes or less, using the ancient legislative method known as “aye”, or whatever.

• Some hon’ble members logging in from a hammock in the Maldives, microphone mute and the mind on margaritas.

• The rest? Lost in Insta Reels, Tik-Tok, or in a deep slumber until they hear some loud voice and start thumping the benches for every word that their leader throws in.

The August Houses have evolved, not the governance though. It’s no longer a house of debate. It’s a co-working wellness lounge with-

• Bars. Yes. British Parliament House has Strangers’ Bar, catering for MPs, staff, and guests, selling ales and other drinks; multiple cafeterias and restaurants . Not enough, it has a gymnasium and believe me, a hair salon!

• Nap pods? Oh come on, when one can peacefully sleep during debate on motions, why would anyone require them?

Somewhere out there, a Prime Minister just “launched” a reform he didn’t write, read, or remember past the press conference. Press Conference? What’s that?

Another is proudly sharing photos of himself feeding crocodiles, peacocks, other wild animals while fuel prices are sprinting past GDP.

Leaders today don’t govern so much as they float:

• One’s off delivering a keynote on “sustainable growth” at a luxury golf resort.

• Another is seen clapping or laughing at a film awards ceremony while citizens beating their hands over empty food bins.

• There are international clubs like G7, G20 to enjoy. Some Heads of State are on globe-trotting - well, there are as many as 190 countries to pick from and gift diamond sets to the first ladies.

• Can you believe, some countries are gifting visiting dignitaries Horses, Elephants, Camels? Absolutely. And a oil-rich country has gifted to a President a US$ 400 million worth special aircraft.

When questioned, their spokespersons reply with AI-generated soundbites.

And the Budget? It now resembles a Netflix subscription agreement — dense, unread, auto-renewed, and silently draining your bank account.

The Governance Auto-Pilot Manual warrants its leaders to -

1. Say “democracy” more often yet bomb women & children, hospitals, schools, residences and everything that is still or moving.

2. Smile or laugh during crises.

3. Appear in traditional dress 200 times a year.

4. Blame global trends.

5. Host, rather participate in a spiritual summit because that’s where the voters are.

6. Reboot, repeat.

Meanwhile, citizens are left with potholes that qualify as water parks, power cuts that come with candlelight mindfulness, joblessness, mortgages and inflation that's growing faster than official explanations.

Final Call

Governance is cruising at 30,000 feet above with no accountability. Disruptions, skirmishes turning into wars; trade bodies, peace bodies, UN bodies, Sentinels of Constitution, Parliaments and Media are clueless. Humanity is dead.

And while the nations float gently toward "Unintended Outcomes," the rest of us remain here, grounded in reality, holding placards that read:

“Could someone please grab the controls?”

Until then, we the citizens with seatbelts on continue to monitor turbulence, and ask the only question that matters:

Is there atleast a God on board? There is only deafening silence.
